My name is
Douglas Conrad Eidt. With colleagues in Ontario I am in the process of completing a book on the
genealogy of the Eydt and Eidt
families in Canada.
If you have
Eidt or Eydt family connections,
I would like to hear from you. A limited edition of "The Eidt and Eydt families in Canada
1835-1985" was published before e-mail was common. We have updated the
record, which goes back to 1625, although there are still gaps to fill. We have
over 8000 names, some being ancestors and siblings of Eidt/Eydt
spouses. It will include stories, biographies and photos as well as the usual
dates and places of births, marriages and deaths. It will also include
descendants who moved to the USA
and elsewhere and relatives who remained in Hesse, Germany, the place of origin of
most.
There are Eidt and Eydt families in the USA of
different European origins. A separate book on those families is proposed in
cooperation with descendants of those families.
It is still
not too late to add information and photos that you might wish to have
included. Your privacy is respected; the book will not contain contact
information of living persons unless requested.
